Salgaocar optimistic of victory

Just ahead of Salgaocar Sports Club clash versus Mahindra United on Sunday, October 18; Salgaokar Coach Tim Hankinson on the eve of Diwali hoped for a perfect Diwali gift on Sunday where his boys hope to bump off the Jeepman.

1st Division I-League With 2 games in hand and a solid performance against Dempo’s in their second round game, Tim now wants his boys to go all guns blazing to snatch a victory on Sunday. On playing at home: Tim compared soccer to a battle where the men as a team have to defend and attack to win in their own fortress. Believes the now strengthened team will fire and come up with a good showing at home. On Mahindra United Though Tim admits Mahindra are a better team and David Booth knows much more about soccer in India, but is quick to add that his boys are up for the competition and are looking only to snatch three points and settle for nothing else. On the additions to the team The American coach is upbeat about PIO Avneet Shergill in the forward line to support Ekene. He is also excited about Francis’s forte of shooting crosses. He was also positive that despite fever Mahinder Singh is 100% fit to be a part of the wall in the defense that include Brazilian and skipper Luciano and new signing Baldeeb Singh from JCT who is eager to show his skills. Ruing the fact that, the signing of the new Iranian Rouhallah \'Siavash\' Samieinia could not be complete as his ITC failed to arrive as today is a Friday and a holiday in the Middle East and Keita is yet to arrive from Guinea. But Tim draws some positives from the mix up and states the completion of the signings ahead of the next match will give the team another boost in the next match. Tim was also upbeat of Kalyan Chaubhey the new keeper. Believes the boys have trained hard and though they missed a match because of the rains but still feels Kalyan will stand his ground on Sunday’s tie. On his experience so far Tim praised the management for their support and the eagerness and determination of the boys to learn and their hunger for victory. Last thoughts on Sunday’s game Tim smiles looks up in the sky and is confident of pumping the air again in celebration as the boys play at Fatorda where they have won many laurels and the fans have gone into a tizzy with joy. On the bench strength Praises the boys of the B squad in their learning process and is confident to see some them not just play in the Goa Pro League and lift the Goa Pro League but also debut in the I-League and excel for Salgaocar’s.
