The two schools in question, Loyola High School – Margao and Mae Dos Pobres – Nuvem, have certainly made their mark on the football field with consistent performances and have been known to churn out quality players by the year.

 

Under the agreement, Salgaocar SC will provide financial assistance to the football activities of the above mentioned schools besides making senior first team players available for some training sessions to interact with the school players. Further, talented players from these two schools will get a chance to don the colours of Salgaocar SC.

 

Fr. Alvaro Martins, Principal – Mae Dos Pobres High School and Fr. William Rodrigues, Principal – Loyola High School, were understandably thrilled at the partnership. Says Fr. Alvaro, ‘I am absolutely delighted that Salgaocar SC has recognized the football talent that is available within our school. We have always encouraged sports, and football in particular, and this partnership would help a lot of our boys realize their ambition of being professional football players.’

 

Fr. William Rodrigues, Principal – Loyola High School hoped that the partnership would go a long way in developing talent in Loyola High School. ‘In the past we have produced many great football players, and with this partnership, we hope to produce many more. Many of our good players will get a chance to play for Salgaocar SC at the youth level and also hopefully get a chance to don the colours at the senior level in the near future.’

 

Mr. R.A.J. Gomes, General Secretary of the club speaking exclusively to Salgaocarfc.com meanwhile reiterated the clubs stand in regards to youth development. ‘The club was founded by the late Mr. V.M. Salgaocar with the purpose of promoting Goan football talent, and partnering with Loyola High School and Mae Dos Pobres High School is just a step in that direction. In the past, good players have come out of the Salgaocar Youth system, and with these partnerships in place, it will ensure that the best talent available in Goa will be made available for Salgaocar SC.’
