1956 to 1966….The Journey Begins


Sheer love for sport, and football in particular made late Vasudev M. Salgaocar founder Chairman of V.M. Salgaocar group of companies start Vimson Club in 1956 with an aim of promoting football talent in Goa. The name Vimson was later changed to Salgaocar Sports Club which went on to establish itself as a formidable side which would go on to rule the roost in major tournaments not just in Goa, but in India as a whole.

1967-80….The First Outstation Truimph


The first decade was hugely successful for Salgaocar Sports Club. Their style of play had caught the eye of many a spectator helping the club develop a large fan following even beyond Goan shores who made their presence felt on match days.

1981 – 1995…..It’s 4 Federation Cup Finals in a Row….a 5th Final Appearance later


Four Federation Cup finals in a row, Two of which were won, two appearances in the Asian Club Championships, and eight Goa league titles…. this epoch could well be described as the one that saw Salgaocar Sports Club make their mark on Indian football.
